Hey everyone, I had a quick question about ram useage.
Right now I am using about 2.75gb in task manager it is reporting, I have firefox 4 beta with 10 tabs open, MSN, Acrobat, a and a backup running.
Does this seem normal or is there a way to see if something is memory leaking?
Also how much ram useage do you guys find when just doing general stuff like this?

The Beta may be causing some unforseen RAM issues but other than that it looks fine.

Seems a little high, but not too bad. How much is Firefox using? I've noticed that, at least for me, the beta's RAM usage can get a little high after being up for a while. I'm using about 2.5 GB with the FF4 beta (10 tabs), Outlook, iTunes, and Skype.

Yeah... firefox is using 650mb approx. MSN another hundred, everything else is under 100.

For me, FF is using about 380mb right now. The other day, I caught it at around 750mb and at that point it was behaving rather sluggish. FF just needs to be restarted sometimes.

How many processes do you have running? I've tried cutting back idle processes with little success...at 98 now. Little things add up too.

I have 85 processes running, Ram is at 2.25gb I think the backup is using a lot as well.

WOW! I am running Google Chrome with 2 windows and 11 tabs, pidgin with 5 accounts, Steam in the tray and a few other little tray programs and I am coming in at 1.87GB with 98 processes running.

It's odd I added up all the processes the ram useage, and it only came out to about 1.5gb but performance said 2.5... Perhaps this is due to the integrated video card using some?

The integrated card is already subtracted from your total available RAM. Did you hit "Show processes from all users"? Many system processes are hidden unless you do so.

    Still doesn't add up.

Fair enough. Doesn't even come close to adding up for me either. I'm sure there's a simple answer for that, I just don't know it.
