Did you Overclock the system in the BIOS?
If you did then this is a common error but my m11x R1 fixed it self after a couple BSOD's with Overclock on.
If not then you could have lost battery but you had the adapter on.So you could have gotten a virus but highly unlikely. Also do you have anti-virus on your new m11x R1?
    Hope this helped.

Are you utilizing IE8? If so you need to un-install it and utilize a different browser. It causes BSOD. Since you received a random shutdown I am going to 'assume' that you may have received a worm or trojan. I would seriously consider booting into safe mode with network and scanning the entire machine with several different virus and/or spyware apps.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.

    Best Wishes,

    StevenX

My machine has never randomly shut down, although 95% of the time I utilize the gt335m and not the intel chip. See if windows can pinpoint any particular reason if you have no idea why it happened (action center). And if it continues to happen I would contact Dell as it should not happen at any time.

Mine has never shut down on me, and I run almost exclusively on the intel chip, except when gaming.

Mine sometimes shuts down, always when I'm gaming, but only when playing GRID or DiRT2 strange enough. Happens like every 2 weeks but to me it doesn't matter.

OK, I found out this only happens when I switch back to the intel chip from the nvidia card. And I should say it is actually random restart, not shut down. Usually it happens 10 minutes after graphic switch(nvidia->intel). I did not OC and there was no virus, reboot doesn't help either.
    Any ideas?

For some reason I cant update the driver of the Intel Canitga GS45 found on Dell's website, but everything else is fine. It says my computer does not meet the requirement.

If you have overclocking disabled, it sounds like a driver stack problem. Go into control panel and ensure that ALL video drivers and video driver control panels are removed. Restart the system and install the latest Dell drivers. See if this resolves your problem.

If not, try running diagnostics on the system (F12 at boot) to make sure you don't have a memory or CPU problem. If it continues to happen, you might want to consider an OS reinstall or you can contact support (since this is a brand new system). It's possible that you could have an issue with the video card itself. This is not common.

Damn it happened again, even after clean install. I was on nivida graphics and browsing internet only. No OC and gaming. What should I do now?

if its still effecting you even if you re-update drivers and downclock, it's probably due to the motherboard. If ur getting any sorts of failure in relation to slower frames & load speeds. Its all on the motherboard as everything is literally integrated. (went trough 3 m11x exchanges & 2 motherboard replacments till i got my working unit) :/

It's not BSOD so no error was given, hence nobody can tell what's wrong with it. I was on remote support for an hour today and nothing was solved. Using this laotop has been a very frustrating experience and I am returning it tomorrow...

try this, open up the case and pull out the cable with the battery (try to clean it, blow in it or something) and then firmly re-attach the cable. See if that didn't solve your problem.
