    Guys

I'm getting some seriously high temps playing Crysis 2 (seems to be the only game that really gets the temps up and the fan blowing), according to CPUID my CPU temp max showed 87c (188f) and the graphics card was 97c(206f)!!

Anybody else experiencing this, is there anything I can do, its so uncomfortably hot I can barely play with the laptop on my lap (have to keep moving it around my lap to avoid lightly grilled thighs!) In addition after about 20 mins of playing the graphics appear to 'slow' down and framerates drop dramatically, is this a symptom of high temps?

    Help please!!

Your leg is probably blocking the fan vent. Try playing with the laptop on a table and see what the temps are.

Thanks I will try the leg removal technique though frustratingly that does go against the concept of this being a laptop!

Try playing crysis with your desktop in your lap for a new appreciation of your "laptop".

Just as an fyi I have noticed that the air blowing out of the fan vent is warm but not at all hot, the heat seems to be coming from under the left hand palm rest where the metal base is seriously hot to the touch

It's hard to check, but make sure the fans are working properly. Also while e leg removal thing is annoying there are options. I use the folio case, which when folded over raises the back of the notebook clearing a space for air intake. It also keeps the machine in pristine condition when not in use, while also making it more lap typing friendly thanks to the slope.

Yes that one. The pics don't show it but the back side of the case has mesh where the fan intakes are, and the whole thing folds over into a wedge to maximize airflow when you're using it. I'll try to get a picture taken and up

Ah thanks for the pics, just for info I checked temps on idle and they are 46c (114f) for the cpu and 51c (123f) for the graphics card, is that normal at least!?

Are you sure? m11x (any model) temps are around 50C in idle, 75-85C for heavy gaming

Yes that's pretty normal. There's always a few degrees of variation from machine to machine but you're in the right range.

I recently reapplied the thermal paste and dusted the fan, with gpu, cpu overclocked and throttlestop on I get gpu 78 and cpu 88 celsius max on crysis 2. I play with good airflow under the laptop.

It certainly feels quite hot under my keyboard hand.
