Can you get a picture of that for us?

If it boots, then you are probably fine. It might be your charger (you can get one for 12 buck free shipping on ebay), or your battery might need to be replaced.

If the charger is good, then consider cycling the battery. I can walk you through that if you want.

Alibaba has the i7 r2 mobo for $150 shipped, and you pay with paypal, so you are completely protected.

    Does that answer the question?

I would look for an adapter/battery 1st, then mobo as the last option. I'm pretty sure the battery may be the issue.

Yes, definitely try the battery first. Sounds like countless other computers I have worked on where the battery goes bad.

I'd say go for the power adapter replacement first. I, pretty recently, had a problem very similar to this where the computer would first start up to tell me that the battery wouldn't charge because the adapter was incorrent so the battery wouldn't charge at all. I thought it was the battery or motherboard as well, but a new adapter fixed the problem perfectly. Also, reading forums, it looks like the power adapter is one of the first Dell parts to go bad anyway (as opposed to battery/power supply, etc.).
