I recently went through a reformat of my system with a clean install of Windows 7 and ever since then, I haven't been able to get my m11x to switch to my high performance nVidia Geforce GT 335m card with the FN-F6 function (note: the graphics icon at the bottom desktray is also missing so I cannot switch via that way). I have installed multiple Intel and nVidia drivers with no success.

My drivers I currently have installed are:
    nVidia:
Via nVidia site: Driver Version 310.70
Via Device Manager: Driver Version 9.18.13.1070, Date: 12/3/2012
    Intel:
Via Device Manager: Driver Version 8.15.10.2302, Date: 2/11/2011

Also a sidenote issue I've been having is that whenever I move my laptop while unplugged, it will randomly turn off and I will be prompted to 'Start Windows normally' when restarting, which renders having a laptop kinda pointless.

Any help with getting my laptop back to how it was would be appreciated. :)
    Thank you.

Did you install the appropriate function key drivers? I do not recall if the M11x had separate drivers necessary in order to make FN+[whatever key] functions work, but I know many manufacturers do have them.

As for the sudden shutdowns, it may be a battery issue. Open up the unit and reseat and reconnect the battery, then see if the issue persists. Another possible culprit may be the freefall detection driver (I do not know if the R1 has drop detection sensors, but I am assuming it may since the R3 does have them), where it is reading any motion as freefall and stopping the hard drive in order to prevent damage.

To get the GFX to work correctly you need to use the DELL's drivers only.

I was wondering about the same thing (yesterday I bought one m11x r1). So no switchable unless with nVidia drivers 2xx series from Dell? If I choose to disable integrated video card from BIOS I will be able to use only GT 335M with the newest nVidia driver, yes?
And last question - is the performance loss severe if I decide to go 2xx driver?

Look around this forum for the experimental Optimus driver. It's pretty cool.

I took a look via the search engine and found a lot of things.. but the truth is that I'm not that into modifications and experimental drivers.

I tried out the Dell drivers; switchable graphics worked perfect (as expected) but I found my self not having the urgent need (power savings) to use the Intel Chipset and the loss to performance was big.
So I wiped everything and just installed the latest nVidia driver and disabled integrated video.
I'm pretty much sure that's the way I'll go, but when I have more time to read the articles you pointed to me I might as well ask some more questions.

Edit: Actually I might try it in the afternoon, just for fun.
If I understand correctly I have to download the drivers for Intel Chipset and nVidia card from the topic then install them both and that's it?
The latest Optimus Beta driver I found was 295.73; does this mean it's the equivalent of nVidia graphics driver 295.73? If yes - isn't that a bit old and won't it result in performance loss just like Dell's driver?

    Thank you!

Yeah I think that's the right one you found. And you won't take much of a performance loss like with the Intel drivers. Also, it is my understanding that newer drivers don't optimize older cards like the m11x's very much.
