I have an M11x R2 that's being delivered to my house tomorrow. It's fully maxed out (8gb ram, i7, SSD, etc.). I called Dell and they said I can return it for a full refund if I like. Here are my there options:

    1. Keep the maxed out R2.

    2. Send it back and buy an R3 (not completely maxed out)

    3. Send it back and get an M14x (not completely maxed out)

All have there advantages. I like portability but I also play demanding games. I've heard the M14x overheats badly and has very loud fans that run even when the computer is idle. I'm not sure if there are any real advantages in the M11x R3 compared to the fully maxed out R2.

I would send the R2 back. If you paid for a SSD and 8gb of ram from Dell, you cand save a lot right there alone. Get the memory and SSD from New Egg, or some where is if you can find cheaper.

Bingo. Right here. And I wouldn't base your decision off of hearsay.
