NVIDIA GTX 470M highlights rollout of 400M mobile GPU series -- Engadget

NVIDIA claims that, on average, the 400M graphics cards are 40 percent faster than their 300M series counterparts

Q: When will notebooks with GeForce 400M GPUs be available?
A: Starting today. Acer, Asus, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung, and Toshiba all announced support for 400 Series GPUs today, with even more OEMs announcing soon. Ask the OEMs for their schedules.

    What about the power drain?
Do remember, the M11x needs to battery as one of it's pro's...

As awesome as that would be I agree with Noah14, one of the main reasons I bought the m11x is because of battery life. I can get in a gaming session on break and still have enough juice in her to take notes in class. But who knows, I'm sure in the next revision they'll have a better graphics card. We just have to play the waiting game :-D

I'd rather have AMD graphics power like the M15 and M17 has.

I think better performance would be achieved in the next update with a mixed update in both CPU and GPU, as I think most games these days are balanced to take advantage of both.

They should find the coolest and most power efficent step up from what they have now. If they can find a 15-25% faster graphics card(DX11 enabled) around the same or perhaps a bit lower heat and power output, that would be fantastic.
On the CPU and Ram side, faster would be great.

And of course, increase the screen to 12'' (because it will fit in the chassis)

I 445m ddr5 version would look better inside the m11x r3. It's 2 thirds the performance of the 460m wich is slighlty beneath the 5870.

That would be sick inside the m11r3.

The R1 still the best m11x because of the best mix of hardware for portable gaming. If the 400m series comes to the m11x line, they would need to have a better battery and a better heat sink/coolant/fan for the new GPU.

I dare not think how big the power supply would be.

    Agreed.
Unless Alienware manages to fit something like 204848 Cell battery in the M11x, the chances of a far more powerful graphics card are slim.

I really don't see the point of being concerned with battery when it comes to the dedicated GPU. The Intel HD can handle any video you throw at it, so that leaves gaming as the /only/ thing that the 335 or any other GPU should really ever be used for. Are there that many people who are gaming on battery? I certainly don't.
