Just wondering if anyone here is using the Kingston HyperX RAM in their M11x (KHX1600C9S3P1K2/8G).

Considering picking up a pair of 8GB for my R3, just wanting to know if they can fit the RAM (considering they have heatsinks on them) and if the BIOS supports this "Plug 'n' Play" RAM. For $63 it's not really THAT more expensive than other RAM, but i've heard good things about it.

I know it's 1600MHz, but the specs sheet says that at 1333MHz the timings drop to CL8. I know someone's going to link me to it, but I've already read the NBR HyperX review :p

I have that ram and it works awesome in my r3. The heatspreaders cut down on the heat on the bottom of the notebook. The tighter timings also give a nice boost and can be set even lower with a copy of thiaphoonburner. I am running mine at 7-8-7-20

Yea I'm thinking i may have to get a kit. People may think that $63 for 8GB 1600MHz SODIMM's is alot, but aussies know that this RAM sells for closer to $120 back home.

    Yes, it will fit.

But you will not notice any performance difference whatsoever from buying this over any other DDR3 SODIMM, because memory performance is irrelevant these days.

My suggestion: Buy 8GB of "regular" name-brand DDR3 RAM for about $25-$30. Take the rest of the money to buy yourself a case of beer and some cheese burgers.

... and some chips (or fries if over on that side of the pond).

Actually, being Australia, probably a pie and mash would be more suitable!

In most cases yes. But i have found faster memory really helps with stutter in cpu heavy games ie WoW FSX. However it's very hard to benchmark that improvement.

I did order it at that price, just as well i did cos the price jumped up by almost $20 just a few hours later. It should be delivered in the next few hours.

I got an additional $60 refund from Dell too, so that pretty much paid for the Hyper-X kit :p

//Edit: I received them, put them in, and i'm very happy. An actual noticeable performance increase from my 6GB of miss-matched sticks. It's running at 8-8-8-23 too so that's a plus.
