After messing around with my PC, and the game settings for hours without any success on getting this game working, I've finally registered here on Notebook Review after months of lurking, hoping that someone will be able to help me.
Here's the problem:
Even after changing to the 335M in the NVIDIA control panel, both globally and for the GTA IV program, it seem to automatically just chose the integrated graphics, allowing me only to tweak the games graphics within 92MB of memory, and refusing to start after choosing "Play" by giving me a black screen, with the loading music playing in the background.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

It did that to me on my GT540. I installed the latest drivers from nvidia and intel. It fixed the memory issue with the game graphics. To fix the not starting issue, I had to completely remove games for windows live and reinstall it. Now it works like a charm. Don't forget to whitelist either.

The problem with GTAIV is it's poorly coded and ported. Oh and for your problem, you have to reinstall the game, and set the program to 'use' or in other words, detect the 335m. I still don't recommend you play the game. It lags even on the lowest settings. Try my method.
How to use 335M with GTA IV?
