I just went to the control panel and uninstalled it. I got tired of having toaster.exe make it so I couldn't switch graphics

It is a recovery tool that helps you re-install your OS and default applications. It is completely possible to do all of that manually, without the need for AlienRespawn.

People may prefer manual re-install because it gives them more control over what gets reinstalled, and it allows them to free up the system resources and hard drive space used by AlienRespawn.

So, it's a nice-to-have if you ever need it, but it isn't essential for people that can accomplish what they need to do without it. A good rule of thumb for any pre-installed hardware or software: If you don't know whether you need it or not, the best thing to do is to leave it alone until you do know.

It's useful if you like backing up your system. I myself prefer Acronis True Image than the premium version of Alienrespawn.

The free edition only allows me to back up to factory state. Whats the point of that? Can't I just use the recovery disc that was included?

Just a quick question - I don't seem to have Alienrespawn on my m11x r2. I have something called Dell Datasafe. Is this the samething? I checked Windows control panel uninstall and Alienrespawn is not listed nor is it in the program menu. How do you tell if you have Alienrespawn? Thanks.

The Dell Recovery Partition would be the equivalent of AlienRespawn. It isn't something that would be listed under Add/Remove Programs - it is just there until you manually take steps to remove it.
