Sorry for my stupid question! But "Recover" or "Recovery" get an error in the board search!

How can I recover my old Notebook ... it goes to a friend so I want to make it "clean" ...

It has a 14,6 GB "Recovery" Partition ... but ... how can I use it?

    Thank you for your help!

    Best Regards,
    Mythbuster

There are a couple of ways to do this. The f8 on boot up technique, although I haven't used this. Tap f8 on startup and you should be presented with a boot option screen, go down and select Alienrespawn and you follow the instructions there. Or you can open Alienrespawn in windows, there will be a restore tab on the left, click that, then click "restore to previous state or factory setting" (something along those lines). You should then have an option to restore to the factory image, it should say that and also give a date.

Hope that helps, there's plenty of guides online for more in depth instructions, just google it!

Edit - Quick google and here's a guide:

I'm assuming you don't have the eom windows disk that came with the laptop? You could always download windows on another machine, put it on disk/stick and use that to install on the m11x using the code on the bottom.

Sorry, I forgot you may not have a external DVD. Yes, if you make a bootable device from the DVD you can boot from that. Install windows and then install the drivers from dell. Simple as that! Then download Alienrespawn or similar restore software, make a recovery drive and stash it away somewhere for next time!
