I am just wondering how I go about lowering my CPU usage at a idle state on my R1? I have a few things turned off at start up in msconfig I want to use AlienFX but will this use alot of CPU during idle? I also have the sidebar gadgets on so that I can use my CPU Monitor. What else should I turn off?

I think you go into advanced power options and change the maximum processor state and put in a percentage (1-100), I think I use max 1% in Power Saver mode

I'm using 5-10% with 84 processes while reading this... you might already be low. What is it now?

Idle CPU is secondary... its the active apps you want to control. FF beta can spike very high just scrolling a page.

I am at 20% CPU while viewing this. I have 88 processes running. I do have AlienFX on as well as face recog., HP monitoring (for my printer) and bluetooth. Now my M11x R1 is connected to multiple USB devices (USB Keyboard, USB Wireless Mouse, USB DVD Drive and USB hub. I also have a external monitor connected to it. I use these while at my desk since this is my main computer.

In my MSCONFIG there are numerous items running. But I am not sure what is needed and whats not needed.

AlienFX is not active for me... set things how you want then remove that from the running list. Likely see a drop. If happy with result you do not need this at startup.

Not using face recognition either but do not recall any performance hit worth bothering about.
