    Hello everyone!

I just received a refurbished Lunar Shadow M11x R1 and I absolutely love it! There are a few minor scratches on the outside of the LCD lid that I would like to polish up if possible. Does anybody have any experience or recommendations in doing so?

I bought one of this products KH Special Laptop leather Skin Fit DELL Alienware M11x | eBay about 2-3 weeks ago. I'm just waiting the product to arrive. I will make a thread doing a mini review about it and how well does it work ...after i get it.

Anyways, if you know how to remove those scratches, it would be helpful for most of us (r1 users). :D

With my PSP and iPhone I use toothpaste. No joke.

I don't recommend toothpaste - automotive polish is a better idea.

I thought of using automotive products. I was worried that the paint might not be the same though and it would end up just taking the coating right off. There's also a product called PlastX that I use on my car. But it's specifically made for clear plastic.

I'll look for a plastic polish today online and then try that guide that I posted and let everyone know about any success or failure that I have.

Edit: It turns out the guide I posted actually uses an automotive plastic polish designed for windows. Xtravbx may be right about this

    Automotive finish is very delicate.

Those polishes are tested over and over and over on MANY different surfaces before being released to the market. The last thing they want is a guy with a Maserati saying it marred his finish.

I use to detail cars on the side - so I know the quality of those products. Anything but the cheapo junk will work well.

If your unit hasn't been serviced to replace the hinge you could just call dell. They'll send so eone out to replace your entire display for free.

That's actually what I'm doing as my hinges are making a cracking sound when I open/close the laptop. New hinges, new screen, and an unscratched lid for free? I'm all over that :D
