I was cleaning my m11x keyboard, i was using sort of dish soap to remove the oil grease in keyboard, and then I clean the palm rest area but after cleaning it, it seems that the palm rest look shiny sort of oily, was it naturally like that or because i use soap?

usually pop it in the dishwasher for a hour or so.

No, but really. I whipe it down every 3 days with a micro fiber towel and some glass cleaner. Then once a month I take the compter down to bare, taking every single part off and cleaning each part.

Machine was on delicate setting, dry with medium heat.
Or a can of compressed air works nicely.

Yup best way to clean it. I usually use eye glasses cleaner on the screen to remove some dust then I vacuum all over to get all the little dust particles in between the keyboard and such.

Yeah can of compressed air works wonders as well.

Shouldnt really need much scrubbing so soft cloth or air to remove the dusty bits. The oily bits from fingers or even the toaster leavins' are less of an issue for me by using a rubber kb cover.

The screen though I will use some appropriate cleaner once in a while though.

keyboard has a 2 bucks rubber protector(from spills), I just pour a little water on it and wipe it wth toilet paper every couple days. I use lense cleaner solution for the screen and I clean it couple times a week.

My wife found these things called Pledge Multi-Surface wipes. They work great on the R1: keyboard, screen, and case. They take off greasy finger marks, gross finger writing, and they help with pencil writing (I have 3 children). I had to use an eraser to take off the pencil from the palmrest. The eraser left eraser tracks on the lid, so it was a waste of time. Pencil apparently scratches the lid as it writes by my non-gentle 5-year-old. The wipe took it off the shiny lid, but the microscratches made it look like it was still there. The eraser worked great on the palmrest. Now you know how to get pencil off your m11x R1!

I don't know how Pledge Wipes and pencil-top erasers will do on the Soft Touch Finish.
