Hello. I'm new here and I have a question. I started playing the APB reloaded beta, and after around 20 minutes I checked my GPU temp on speedfan and it was at 68 degrees. Is this unusually high?

It is sitting at 49 degrees just now while I am only browsing the internet.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks :)

edit- I tried playing a game for a while and I noticed my fan is very quiet. Feels like there is almost no air coming out of the bottom of the laptop.

    No, that's not abnormal.

    Thanks for the reply.

Any ideas on how I could lower it anyway?

edit - would upgrading from BIOS A01 to A05 help in any way?

Sometimes updating the bios will make the fan more responsive/efficient making the temps better, however this is not often the case. Ways to lower the temp included reapplying the thermal paste and, depending on how long you have had the laptop, cleaning out the vents.

    Which revision do you have?

I have had the laptop for about a year. I recently bough a cooling pad but it doesn't make a big difference. I have the M11x Revision 1.

Yeah I read the title after the fact lol. The R1 is famous for running cooler than the other m11x versions. To be honest your temps are perfectly safe, the danger area is around 85ish and you are quite a ways below that. However if you have had the laptop for a year and never cleaned the vents, give that a try either use a vacuum to suck the dust out of the vents or use a can of compressed air in order to blow it out. That usually makes a major difference in laptops. Particularly if you have not done it before.

If you are very tech savvy changing the thermal paste is a good idea to do as well since the factory paste usually tends to be applied quite messily and incorrectly causing temps that should be lower.

Well, to be an R1 its normal IF you DONT have a COOLER/Heatsink mod.
If you are using any of those 2 and you got that temp, then something is wrong with your R1

This is clearly the result of dust build up. First use a vaccum cleaner on the lower vent and back exhaust, then follow up with compressed air.

Thanks, I'll be sure to do that.

My idle temps are as follows:

    GPU: 42C
    CPU 0: 38C
    CPU 1: 38C

Are these temps alright or should I still consider the vacuum?

edit- After using the vacuum on the fan and back vents, my max GPU temp when gaming got to 59C though it was usually always at 58C. Max core temp was 50C :)

That is what I figured was causing it, glad it worked out easy for you.
