Hey, My M11x is about 4months old, I've got 3years next day assistance warranty or something like that, I've already had the screen replaced due to hinges one month after getting it (The man knocked on my door the day after sending of an email!)

However, my m11x is now getting hot as hell, almost too hot to handle on my legs, i try to raise the fan when I'm on a flat and keep the fan of my leg when on my lap. Why is it doing this, is it normal? Sometimes will just shut off, especially when playing WoW or watching Movies?

If I was to open it up, give it a spray with some compressed air clear dust etc will this void my warranty?

    Cheers
    John

They do get hot, shouldn't be enough to kick in the auto shut off though. Since it's under warranty I'd get them to have a look at it, you can always try blowing a can of compressed air in. But since its only 4months old I find it hard to believe you have got enough dust in there to cause those problems.

It maybe faulty but more than likely just needs the TIM replacing.

Had the same problem. As long as it is just the bottom access plate it will not void your warranty. If that doesn't work I suggest calling alienware.

You can get your code from the bios screen. Go into there and get it, then write it down.

Take a photo of the service tag number in BIOS and email it to yourself for permanent safe-keeping.

Another place to put it is in your dell account.
It also helps if you filled out the info on the account so you don;t need to reiterate to the tech when you do need to call.
