Take a look at the new Dell 14 and 15 xps. You can see the Nvidia Optimus 420. I wonder if this will be in the next Revision of the M11?

420 seems slower, based on pure fillrate and texture fillrate...

Though the Optimus portion works even on desktop GPU, so we can definately hope for a more powerful GPU to fill the void :) :)

EDIT: for the desktop GPU, check out the DIY ViDock people.

I'd hate to have Optimus on a desktop. Go all out or get a laptop, you know?

How would be the gaming in comparison to the M11x? because they both cost about the same price.

It has to do with the previously mentioned DIY ViDock functionality...

The strange this is that each xps notebook model offers an "upgrade" to a nvidia chipset which doesnt include optimus. The only requirement is that you also choose an I7 cpu. I think they have the 420m with optimus and the 435 with optimus (17in model). I guess they could try to put the 435 optimus in the m11 model. Anyway, just a glance at what's around the corner.

I guess with a new frame could consider this a hinge fix :p

I saw the anticipated updates to the Dell XPS line. But honestly, I don't consider them at all to be in the same class as the Alienware M11x.

    1) The Alienware M11x has a more powerful GPU, and will therefore be better in pumping out graphics power in gaming.

    2) The smallest Dell XPS is 14". There are currently several laptops that are 14" and larger that can equal or surpass the performance of the M11x. What makes the M11x unique is that it is the most powerful gaming laptop below 14".

    3) In my opinion, those new XPS'es are fugly. I am typing on a Dell XPS M1330 right now, and I would keep this 3-year old laptop over a brand new 14" Dell XPS because they are so friggin ugly.

    15in xps
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 435M 2GB graphics

    17inch xps
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 435M 1GB graphics with Optimus
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 445M 3GB graphics

strange how with the 15inch you can have a 2 gig GT 435M but with the 17inch you are stuck with a 1 gig GT 435M, and its seems like over kill with a 3 gig GT 445M lol
