So I o/c'd my fsb to 166 and now all my M11x does is turn on the FX lights, and then shut down a few seconds later. No bios screen or anything beyond that. I let it cool down a bit (5 min) and tried again. This time it turned on the FX lights but nothing else happened, the screen stayed blank. I could hear what sounds like the HDD spinning but that was it.

Anyways I just got home from work (bedtime) so I unplugged the battery and am going to let it sit while I sleep and hope when i boot it up again I can at least access the bios and restore it to factory fsb, with much more cautious overlocking in the future

    any input/help is much appreciated

Yea that's pretty much what happens if your CPU isn't boot-stable @ x mhz. Though usually after exiting the bios with your desired fsb set, and then usual reboot happens, if the CPU isn't boot-stable at the set fsb, the bios will disable the overclock and reset the fsb back to default (a process taking less than 5 seconds). So I'm not too sure why it hanged for so long.

Try setting the fsb at minimum, then see if it boots, then keep working your way upwards until the machine does as described above. Then all that's left is to set the fsb back to the last boot-stable option, run prime95 for a couple of hours + your favorite benchmark software to see if the machine stays stable/no errors occur. If its not stable, decrease your fsb then re-test until you hit your sweet spot.

P.S. I'm stable at 140mhz, and not many can hit a stable 166mhz. So don't be too disappointed.

I don't even get that much at 166, it turns on, then off, then on again with OC disabled haha, so just determine your pcs limit, I can run 160 so far.

All set, she just needed time to cool down. Thanks for the input though, it eased my mind. I think I was just overreacting a little, probably d/t to being sleep deprived from working 3 12hr night shifts in a row. :p

    I'm up to 164 on mine ... :D :D :D ...

But I was lucky. I did what you did - booted it up for the first time, made sure everything worked, then restarted and went to bios and went straight to 164. I had looked on these forums first and saw that a lot of people seemed to be stable at that number, so I just went for it. Bad practice on my part.
