    Hi,

My HDMI sound used to work fine until just now - this is what happened.

I usually keep my laptop closed shut, unless i want to use two screens. So, i was watching netflix, and i wanted to browse the net while watching a show, so i opened my laptop, and then the sound just disappeared. on the control panel, it shows that it is working fine, but in reality it is not. I tried restarting the computer, and thats all ive done, for im a big of an idiot when it comes to computers, and i dont want to mess anything up. can someone help?

There are many reasons for this.
When you plug in a new HDMI or DisplayPort device it has it's own Playback Device.

Right click on the sound speaker icon in the task bar.
Sometimes the DisplayPort or HDMI device just need to be set as default device and then just leave your M11x build in speakers as default Communications Device.

A quick check is to remove the HDMI cable and then replace it back into the M11x. Sometime the audio just 'hangs' because of state changes. Music/audio can only be ported through one interface at a time and if that interface has a state change....
