    Hey guys and gals,

Today I noticed a HD like noise from my fan, any idea what it is? Sounds like a spinning HD but slightly lower.

HairDryer? Many m11x fans have high noise levels.. Some even start grinding the casing (press q/w/e and see if the sound changes, if it does, then it is grinding)..

one thing to do is to disassemble the lappy completely (and i mean completely, as the fan is the absolute last thing, thanks for the design alienware!) and clean/lubricate the fan.. make sure you tighten it properly when putting it back as otherwise you will still get grinding at some speeds..

eventually you will need a new fan, not that big of a deal

Maybe a cable or something else is hitting the blades of the fan, have you checked it?
