I recently just used setpll to OC to 180 it ran Intelburn test 10 times no problem however right after I closed it and opened up steam I got a BSOD so I lowered the clock setting to 178 ran it again and it was fine however after opening GTA IV up I got a BSOD I lowered it again to 175 and was able to make it the menu to press start but was then greeted by another BSOD. I know GTA IV is a shoddy port but I could run it fine with about 20fps pre overclock and now even after going through intelburn test I get BSOD's. I havent written down the error but I will do so the next time I get a chance I believe it was a pointer reference.

Not sure I get what the question is but try this... http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...must-read-setfsb-o-c-game-problems-fixed.html

Did you set IntelBurnTest to run at maximum stress? The RAM could be unstable.
-
sorry was trying to understand why im getting errors if it can handle the stress test the overclock is the only variable that has changed since the last time I played it. Ran it again and got a Interrupt request handled improperly error will look through the thread you gave me later I think its what im running into thanks for your help

I did I thought it was the ram also but It ran through the stress test at 180 10 times without giving any errors
-
Oh ok I think I understand what you are asking now... Perhaps try a different load test in IntelBurn because maybe you are not testing enough load to see if you will get a BSOD... I had this problem before too but the BSOD for me took about an hour after load.

Thanks the thread you referenced fixed the problem now I can see how far above 178 I can get. Unfortunately GTA IV is seeing a minimum gain in performance I will try testing it without and comparing the results.

o.0 should have mentioned im also using throttlestop

Im gonna run another stress test but I keep getting BSOD's randomly with clocks of 175 and 178 while ddoing simple things like browsing. I googled a couple of the error messages and im leaning towards my memory but how could I pass 10 runs on Intel Burn Test on maximum at 180 and be facing these problems with lower clocks?
-
Try Prime95 I had great success with that.
P.S. Just to clairify are you saying that at 180 BLCK you do not get any BSOD's and its perfectly stable? But yet at 175-178 BLCK you are getting BSOD's? -
