I'll be carrying my R2 around a lot in my backpack so I'm looking for a sleeve/case. However, due to the M11x's lack of a DVD drive I also need to carry around a slim Samsung DVD writer. Does anyone use a good case/sleeve (preferably soft, not too heavy) with space for both?

i'd say just go to best buy and look around. they have a lot of cases and best buy carries the m11x r1 so you can test the case there

I'd browse the m11x forum here for a nice case idea. There are quite a few threads with lots of suggestions on good cases. Personally, the AW portfolio seems pretty nice, the company that makes them has a whole combo for the line. If you want to spend a little more money for a nice sleeve, the waterfield sleeves are extremely nice. If you want a hard case, ive seen a lot of good things on this forum about the mactruck cases.

i just looked at the alienware portfolio and i would not recommend it. The bag opens up and has a whole spot for your laptop on one side. The other side has many pockets for stuff but that will mean things will be on your alienware when it is closed.

i would recommend a incase nylon messenger bag for the macbook 13 inch.

The Alienware sleeve should do that for you. It has a zippered front pouch which the Samsung should fit into. Annoyingly I can't find my Samsung slimline DVD to try it.

Yes the alien sleeve will hold a slim drive as well as the M11x. The first shot has it in the pocket, the second with it peeking out.

If you don't mind spending some money, SFBags has a nice sleeve. You can add on a "piggyback" to carry your DVD, mouse, cables, etc... Their bags can be pricey but they look nice and are pretty high quality.
