Im not saying not to get extended warranty because extended warranty makes our lives alot easier but in some cases if you pc breaks down within a year or two you as a consumer may have the right to a replacement or refund. dont take my word because different countries have different polices. I wouldnt have any tips for you but getting extended warranty is well worth the money in the long run.

P.S dont take my word i just made a suggetion but that doesnt nessiserily mean i am correct. You are alot safer with extended warranty.

It's usually 1 year, and if his warranty is just about to expire than that suggests that he's already had it for almost a year, if not 2, which makes that point irrelevant. Plus it only applies to brand new retail purchased items, not refurb.

I'm really not sure tbh, it's an R1 and imo the cost of 1 year warranty might be more than buying an entire new system-board if it ever needs to be replaced.

You can get an extended warranty on refurbished as well - I confirmed this with my m11x-R1 :)

    To the OP:
Try various reps since you'll get a different quote each time you call in. Don't let a high quote discourage you - I recently had a rep quote me 600$ for 1 year (LOL) which is highway-robbery - these are the people you'll want to avoid. It's supposed to be 199$ for an extra year at the time of purchase to give you a reference point of what to expect and aim for, but with the prices being so sporadic, I can't give you a definitive number.

Edit: You could try e-mailing Allan:

...and getting a quote. Let us the quote just in-case it's good and others are wanting to upgrade their warranty as well.

    :)

I wasn't talking about the extended warranty, i was talking about the default manufacturers warranty which stratex5 was referring to. In Australia for example, any non-perishable goods purchased from a retailer is covered from defects by the manufacturer for 1 full year regardless of warranty status. It only applies to brand new retail-purchased items, not 2nd hand or refurb.

I didnt think he said it was refurbished but i might be wrong although if it was refurbished then the thing i was talking about really doesnt apply.
