Has anyone had good or bad experiences with Dell doing in-home repairs on there M11x?
Reason I ask is I have a dell guy coming tomorrow morning to my house to do a in-home repair on my M11x. Replacing the Bluetooth and SD card boards. I am nervous as I dont want this repair to cause problems with other parts on my M11x.

I would assume GOD in home care would be ok? If he really is almighty...
-
It can vary most of the people that come out are sub contracted... however Im sure god can fix anything from what I hear about him
-
pray to god he won't be bad.

Mine was pretty bad.
I had asked for a hinge replacement and the guy they sent was fiftyish and seemed professional enough to start with. He immediately disassembled the laptop (so far so good...), took out the squeaking hinge and replaced it with a new one (Only took about 15 minutes..I'm feeling good) and finally put everything back together but upon trying the start the system...My freaking M11x wouldn't boot up!
That completely inept baboon of a technician didn't know what he had done wrong and my computer ended up going on vacation to a dell repair depot for 2 weeks!
If there is a hell...I hope that tech gets a front row seat to an eternal life rife with excruciating, never ending and soul wrenching pain! -
I had my hinge replaced three weeks ago and it went without error. The only issue was that he noticed I did some tinkering with my hard drive and ram. But he didn't say much beyond that. So far running without problems.

It's perfect! The dell engineer swapped my motherboard real fast and I got a new, better CPU and GPU which I could overclock MORE! *snicker*

So being that I have a new hard drive that the previous owner installed. Will that cause any issues with the repair? It came from Dell with a 250gb and it has a 500gb in it now.

Good and skilled, but still had to remind him that the keyboard is supposed to lay flat. I liked the tech they sent to my house just wish it was not to replace the screen again.

But back on topic...
I've called Dell In-Home Service Repair around 5-6 times over the past 10 years. Each time, the guy arrives, replaces the part that he was sent to replace, and leaves. I've never had any problems.
If you are unlucky enough to get a service tech who doesn't fix the problem or screws something else up, call Dell / Alienware and tell them. The service techs that come to you work for local PC repair shops and are contracted by Dell / Alienware to provide service. If they give poor service, let Dell / Alienware know so that they will stop using them. -
Well the tech came out and installed a new Motherboard and bluetooth module. So far so good. No problems
Will I have to re-install any drivers or anything? I updated the Bios to A05 is there anything else that I will need to update since its a new MB? -
Its much better then sending laptop to service center, you won't know if they drop it or smth like it. Mine lost rubber legs after such visit, fail.

I've had a tech out twice - once to replace my LCD assembly and once to replace my speakers. Both times the guy was fast and efficient. The problems I've had have been with AW support ordering wrong parts on 2 different occasions for the first issue and it taking them over week to call me to arrange that first on-site visit. How they can manage to order the wrong part when they have your service tag and system specs is beyond me.
God or bad experience with Dell In-home repair?
