    Hello Peeps,

I recently installed a gobi 2000 wwan card in my m11x. I installed the drivers for it but I don't have any software for it. I have a three sim card that I want to use.
    Any ideas?

One more thing after I installed the drivers it's showing up under ports in the device manager, not network adaptors.

    hmmm...
I know you need to turn your wifi on in order for the gobi card to be turned on. otherwise maybe try removing the card, taping off pin 20 and reinstalling it.

I turned off wifi no joy.
What will disabling pin 20 do?
Loads of people have got gobi work so it must be a software issue.

Pin 20 is the "on" switch. Some cards dont respond to turning them on in software, so you have to do it manually.

I had to do this for mine the first time, but then it started working on its own with out the pin taped off.

What card is it that you have? 5620?

Also, as it says in your device manager, the mpci slot that the card is plugged into is just a USB port in mpci shape, so it will show up as a USB device.

I taped up pin 20 and reinstalled the drivers, still no joy.

Just so I'm getting it right pin 20 is the 20th pin from the left?

In the device manager under under ports (COM & LPT) it's called "HP un2420 HS-USB QDLoader (COM3)"

Anyone got any idea? This is extremely frustrating.

Can anyone that has Gobi 2000 working talk me through the process?

I think the problem is with the card you got. Its for a HP computer, alienware computers dont really like to work with non-dell stuff.

I suggest you find a dell 5620 card

    Right I've ordered a Dell 5620.

This has been a total hassle I must say. I started this 6 weeks ago when i bought the aerials. It took literally all weekend to do as I couldn't get the screen to pop back into place. I then broke the keyboard putting it back in so I had to order another(£45). That took a week to arrive, at which point I realised I had ordered the wrong keyboard (R2 instead of R1).

So I sent it back and ordered another one (£70). A week later that came. The space key doesn't work very well but I can't be bothered to send it back.

I then ordered this gobi card from China (£35) which took 3 weeks to arrive. I've been faffing with this for the last week with no joy!
I have now ordered another gobi card (£57) so i really hope it works this time. If not the M11X is going on ebay and I'm getting an ipad!

So in conclusion if you are thinking about adding WWAN to your M11X don't bother, just get a dongle!
