My warranty is going to run out soon so I'm hoping to get my hinge and keyboard replaced.

The space bar is askew and the hinge makes a loud clicking sound when opened and closed. Is that enough to get Dell to send in a repair guy?

I also want to know if there is anything else I could take advantage of from the warranty. I'm kind of overshooting but just wondering if it'd be possible if I could just get my system replaced for maybe a m11x R3 that'd be quite cool.

As long as you have warranty, basically anything can be argued over with the tech support. But the hinge issue is a common issue and Alienware/Dell said that even without warranty they'd fix them since it's so common. So I'd make use of the warranty to get anything fixed that might seem abnormal, but at the same time you're out of luck if you expect to get an R3 for free. That rarely ever happens and only happens because people have repeated problems (like 5 times sent in) or the part they need isn't in production anymore. So I don't think getting an upgrade is really negotiable...

Why not get your issues resolved and renew your warranty.

I got my R2 hinge replaced the other week for the same problem. Turnaround time was about week since I was out of warranty and had to ship it to Houston. If you're still in warranty then they'll send a guy out.

My previous lcd developed two small bright spots and because the replaced hinge is a new lcd, I got that fixed as an unintended bonus. I'm more than satisfied with how the experience went. :D
