Would I notice a decrease in fps if I connected my m11x r1 to an external monitor? I have this specific monitor. http://www.vizio.com/supported/vx37lhdtv10a.html

Would I be better off using the laptop screen for gaming? I use this TV for gaming and movies with my xbox via HD component cable and it looks great. I just don't have a HDMI cable yet so I can't really test out the performance.

that is, if you game in the machine native resolution (1366x768), other than that, it'll add more stress to your machine, and as far as I've tested, playing in full HD just won't do for recent games.

    1. You won't unless you switch it to 1080p. In some cases you can lose 20-40fps. I use it for older games in 1080p but otherwise I keep it in 1366x768 or even 1440x900 and not have any drop in frames.
    2. Its better on your eyes if you are working on a desk or something. I use my monitor in college when I am just in my dorm. It feels better and more relaxing (especially for your back if you are taller. I tend to find myself slouching over a bit in my desk chair if I use just my laptop.

I'd recommend it if you are more stationary than mobile. It's also nice if you have an R1 or R2 because the screen quality is a lot worse on those than a good monitor you can pick up for $150-300. Brighter and more accurate coloring makes my gameplay experience a lot better especially when squinting for long hours taking notes in some class.

Question is, what does 1366x768 look like on a 37" monitor lol.

I play games at 1280 x 720 on my 37" monitor and I think that it looks fine. Right now I'm playing Fallout New Vegas on high settings and AA and AF on and it looks great.

You could always run it without scaling as to not pixelate. It will keep the crispness but it will be larger than your m11x screen none the less.
