    Hey Guys,

I am a frequent TF2 Player and Ive ben starting to notice my computer having severe lag after around 5-10mins of gameplay... the computer is propped up and on a cooling fan... the comp gets quite hot.

I have only steam running in the background and the ram gets up to 80% usage. The lag happens with each game I play...

    Any suggestions?

How long have you had the i7 R3, it may be time to give the HSF a burst of compressed air. Also look into re-pasting the CPU and GPU, also you may want to invest in a higher spec cooling pad.

    Regards.

So, I am probably going to do a re-paste in the next week or so...... the game gets 60+ fps for like 2 minutes then like 10-23 fps for 10... is it something on the computer or just its getting too hot?

Before re-pasting try to blow into the vent with compressed air. I had the same problem and it was solved by making the temps go down by 15+ Celsius. It's a lot less of a hassle than opening up and re-pasting.

Awesome, I'll be sure to try it =) And I just bought compressed air yesterday xD

EDIT: Just blew the air into the vent and dust came flying out... haha and there is a small dust bunnie inside

=) It worked! My temps are great! Thanks!

Hi that is a good idea, cleaning the vents with compressed air and re-pasting can make a significant change in the temps and avoid undesired lag. This article has good practices to perform on a regular basis to avoid Overheating. Also I'll leave the service manual of the R3 so you have a guide when re-pasting. :)
