    Hi everyone!

I just got my new laptop cooler today and it has movable fans so I was wondering where the GPU is exactly on the laptop. I would like to place a fun under that area. Also would anyone know where the CPU is physically located on the laptop too?

    Thanks a lot!

The cpu and gpu are the left side(if you looking at the top) right near the fan, they are both on the same heatsink/fan assembly so they are just inside of the fan location on the back corner of the laptop.

You'll want some cooling on the other side as well as the 'hottest' component by far for me seems to be the RAM (under 'A,S,D')

Has anyone tried to remove the foam and perforated paper stuff from the front vents to see if it improves cooling at all? I've never bumped over 77 degrees on anything even with high overclocks on furmark/prime95 so the laptop doesn't "need" a cooling pad but it never hurts.

What front vents? "foam and perforated paper stuff"?

The bottom panel has to "vents" they're really just holes in the panel, mine are covered with foam and perforated paper and I'm wondering if they're something that could improve cooling if removed.

LOL at first I thought you may have been talking about the speakers and the plastic material for the AlienFX zones - yep, realized what you were talking about a moment ago...

My guess would be its ok to remove however its there for a reason. Either to act as a filter in some manner (although there is no real intake suction there), or it may have some noise dampening function. Don't really know.

If you do remove it, let us know how it works out over the long term.

Sounds good, I now have two bottom panels as alienware couldn't send me the screws only that were stripped on the bottom panel when I got it so I'll give it a shot and let you guys know.
