Off to sunny Viva Las Vegas next month for 6 weeks with work, will be taking my trusty M11x with me, however will be bringing back a Asus G46VW Notebook, which will take over the duties for portable work station when l head off again to my favorite poo pond holiday camp.

Lets see if the wife would like a new erm netbook :)

Failing that it will be ear marked for my nephew who has started Uni and may need something with a little more grunt than the C-60 AMD Asus l got him for his Bday.

i haven't been following new laptops, but damn that asus looks fit, backlit keyboard too, cannot live without that anymore...

Let us know how it feels when you get it :) from earlier experience with asus stuff, they do compromise on build quality quite a bit. Also could be a bit damn smaller.

only complaint about it would be it doesn't seem to have output for 5.1 audio like m11x does, but it even looks nicer than alienware, unsure about the strange bullocks behind the hinges, but design-wise it looks swell :)

Very nice! Now, if the M14x sported the GTX660M I'd probably get one. This is a looks like a very interesting system, good catch!

    lol sorry fella :)

To be fair the set of Roccat Kave l use with my M11x is just as big as it lol, so never really used them, when on trips a set of ear buds are good enough.

So for me not much of a drama.

I quite like the flared end, from what l understand it makes it quite quiet under load and keeps a handle on the temps.

Aye if only the M14 sported it, however at $949.99 (£649.96 inc Tax) from best buy stores in Las Vegas, that works out a hell of a lot cheaper than a M14x @ $1,299.99 (£889.42 in Tax) in store.

The screen res is the same as my M11x and the GTX 660M will fly through this, however as l have spectacles and a cheeky appointment with an eye specialist due to dark spots on my retina l maybe struggling in the future with small hi res screens :)

Will report back once l can take a wander down the strip work permitting.

    Regards.

    C.

Enjoy, I think you'll like the machine... I jumped shipped to the g46 about a month ago. Both are great machines but my old R1 was showing her age in performance. Have fun in Vegas!

You? A fan of trek? Never would have guessed :p

It's funny that alienware seemed to exit the small market just as everyone else entered it and kepler hit :/

Aye Star Trek and The Big Bang Theory are two of my most watched shows.

Great to take away while on my travels.

Well in sunny Las Vegas......and decided to hang onto my M11xR3. Seeing it in the flesh it was a great bit of kit however it just did not have the portability l was looking for.

Sager will be releasing a new 13" machine with 1080p display soon which may be worth a look.

well If i upgrade to a high end portable gaming laptop I'd like it to be well built, which i haven't heard about sagers, even though they seem to offer better specs. I spilled tea a few times on mine and it works fine, just dried it off after a rinse and everything works like magic, yeah i had to replace the keyboard, but to be fair it did soak up most of it ^_^ made me appreciate well designed and built laptop, can certainly take a beating, if it died from a little tea spill it would be a real shame considering i would have laid nearly a grand on it... and thats a whole lot of ice cream.

Still got the M11x, now how do l tell the wife lol.

Have to say really it is not that much bigger overall than the M11xR3

    Regards.
