I'm using an R1.
I recently got my hard drive and keyboard replaced by Dell and I noticed that the laptop gets hotter than usual.
I put it on my lap in school one day just to do normal things like Word and it absolutely burns.
That's when I put my hand on the fan and noticed something a little off. I put my hand over the bottom of part of the fan and I feel air coming out. I placed my hand at the back part of the fan and it's as though air is flowing in.
I may be wrong but doesnt the M11x fan take in air from the bottom and expel it from the back? I'm just afraid that the Dell dude messed up when he took apart my laptop to put in the hard drive and keyboard.
And I have good reason to be afraid. The reason why I had to change the keyboard in the first place is because they messed up in putting back the old keyboard when replacing the harddrive, which screwed up the LED lighting on my keyboard.
I also downloaded Speedfan and saw that my GPU is 49~50C when idle. My HD and CPUs are about 40~42 when idle as well. Are these normal for a non-OC'ed R1?
Sorry if this seems like a noob question. But I guess it's always better to err on the side of caution, right?

Not even sure if a blower style fan can reverse air flow.
Im pretty sure you can't mount it any other way than the one way it sits ether.
Do you think something else could be why the temps are hotter? Change in ambient temps maybe? -
environment temps affect the temp of my m11x. My apartment is always cool, and my laptop's heat doesn't bother me at all. Once I go to my parents' house(barely using the AC), the laptop heats so much I can't focus on gaming lol. You can try holding a small piece of paper to see the direction of the air if u think the back side is taking air in.

In any case, I still feel that my laptop is generally hotter than usual.. My school classrooms are fully air conditioned and my HD is still 40C when I use Word and browsers. I'm especially worried about HD because the safe temp caps at 60C, is it not? -
when i put my r1 on my lap it gets scorching hot.
from what i have been getting those are normal temps.
if your really worried about the temps make or buy a laptop cooler but its only handy when on a desk -
Same thing happened to me, call Dell, they replace your fan and apply Thermal Paste. OR an alternative is use a fan controller, the original thread was closed because it violated the forum rules. You could search for it in the forum tools.
