m11x R1, recently did a format and re-install of Windows 7 Ultimate. I installed all drivers and I have installed the OSD (which is working). When I try hitting FN+F1 it just simply doesn't work. The video driver I have installed is the newest BETA 192 driver from Dell's website. Also, I can't use an external display while using the Intel Video. Alternatively, I could use Windows+P but I still would like the functionality of FN+F1. Any suggestions?

And there was a reason you chose the Dell beta version, rather than the latest Dell 197.72 A01 version?

I find windows+P option a bit more visual and tend to just stick with that.
FN+F1 only works for me when nVidia GPU is enabled.

You may have to re-install the OSD last as I remember OSD disappeared after my BIOS A05 upgrade if enabling nVidia fails to activate it.

I read somewhere on the Forums the Beta drivers gives better performance. The OSD does work except for the FN+F1

I used the Beta version for a while and didn't have any problems with it, so guess that's a plus.

So, you've enable discrete GPU (nVidia) and plugged in your HDMI or DisplayPort cable and have an established connection to a monitor and or external device.

When the above are completed, you then press FN+F1 and nothing happens?

FN+F1 is not like Windows+P in that it displays something whenever you press it. FN+F1 only works if you have an environment all set-up and connected.

    That was my findings anyway.

Now one can see why I use windows+P on common day to day tasks.

I use HDMI to HDMI from the m11 to my 52" sony bravia. The external display and sound everything works once I plug in my m11x. However, FN+F1 doesn't do anything for me, the display on the laptop still remains on.

Now it's not necessarily a big hassle as I can just partially close the lid, but I'm sure there's a way where I can put the m11x screen completely to the TV. Is that what windows+ P accomplishes?
