I got my m11x r2 last Thursday. It's perfect 2 me until I found this forum and that hinge problem thread... :( So I'm thinking 2 extend my warranty. I ordered my m11x from Dell Australia with 1yr premier service. I called dell today to ask if I can extend it to 3yrs. He said yes and it will cost me $390AUD even though I just got my laptop for 4days and if I bought it with my system, it'll only cost $192.5AUD.(PLUS, DELL AU don't offer complete cover for Alienware)

I searched around found out if I extend the warranty in China, it'll only cost less than $200AUD and it's 3yr premier service+ 3yr complete cover.

So can I transfer my ownership to my friend in China, and ask him to extend the warranty for me and then transfer it back. Will I get 3yr premier service+ 3yr complete cover? The dell rep in Australia tell me they don't offer complete cover for Alienware in Australia, but I read the complete-over document, it said it is transferable within Asia/Pacific include Australia.

    Anyone knows? :D

The transferring of laptop ownership is not a problem. What matters is whether or not you can get in-home service in Australia with a warranty purchased in another country. The worst possible scenario is that you purchase your warranty, but then have to send your laptop back to China in order to get service.

I would confirm with multiple sources that you can do this. Find it in writing on Dell's website to be safe, because just recalling a phone conversation that you had with someone isn't going to hepl you when push comes to shove.

I've read the agreement of the complete cover, it says it can be transferred to other countries within Asia/Pacific region(Australia included) and in the agreement it provided the link to Dell Australia, but when I opened the page, it was saying that the page do not exist... But I've checked the agreement of complete cover on other countries website(Malaysia, Thailand, China, Hongkong etc) They are said they can transfer the complete cover to Australia...

I'll ring Dell tomorrow to confirm it.

Just called the Australian Dell and went on the Chinese Dell website, it seems like I don't actually need to transfer the ownership, I can just spend 1/3 of the price plus a 3yr complete cover and extend the warranty on the Chinese Dell website as the region is Asia/Pacific and they use the same database.
