I have 2 23" monitors, one connected via hdmi and the other via vga. I want to hang one on the wall above the other. Is it possible to extend the desktop up down instead of left right? ie when the mouse cursor reaches the top of the bottom display it goes to the top one.

    Thanks in advance,

    Tom.

I know you can with ati cards that support eyefinity but I'm not sure about nvidia. Have a look at the gfx card utility akin to catalyst for ati, there should be a option for displays or desktops.

    Sorry couldn't help more

I have two 24" monitors connected to my desktop PC with an AMD (PowerColor HD 3850) card with dual DVI.

Using the AMD card on my Desktop PC, I am able to dictate the position of the displays. Side by side or top to bottom.

So it can be done using an AMD card and Catalyst 10.04

Connecting my M11xR1 to the same two 24" monitors via HDMI and DisplayPort using the nVidia adapter, I am not as successful.

I can extend the screens (side by side) but have found no way to extend the displays from top to bottom.

I'm not saying it can't be done using an nVidia GT 335M card, just that I have not found a way to do it.

It does sound insane in the left brain, but by extending the screens you can then set them to portrait mode in screen resolution. Thus the cursor will physically drop from the bottom of one screen to the top of the other.

Without further work, the mouse movement is counter intuitive and the screen layout is, will, in portrait, so I'm not sure this would solve anything.

Anybody else had any success in extending an nVidia GT 335M from top to bottom on two monitors and not just side by side?

I have an R2, so obviously considerably different as far as graphics interface goes, but I am able to arrange up/down (I only have one other monitor). My options for positioning show up in both the Intel Display settings and Control Panel->Display->Screen Resolution. I know that yours may be very different, but I thought that I would share my test anyway.

I can get it to extend upwards on the R1 on the integrated graphics but not the Nvidia card.

EDIT: Actually you can. If you go to the Windows screen resolution, you can drag the displays around to get them in the position you want. You can't do this from the nvidia control panel for some reason.

Good one guys, I think you've solved it.

On the M11xR1 you'll need to enable discrete GPU mode to enabled nVidia.
Then configure the external monitors as you would before.

For this test I'm using a 52" Panasonic Full-HD TV via HDMI and a 19" LCD monitor via VGA.

Once the two devices have been extended(Bound) within the screen resolution panel you can then manually drag the monitor icons around within the interior of the box to position them. (This is similar/same as the AMD/ATI Catalyst setup)

Position the monitor icon in the preferred layout and then the cursor should be able to be moved from the bottom of one monitor to the top of the next.

Cool, tick that off the list. I'm sure I couldn't have done it without your help, thanks again.
