There's a M11x R3 refurb right now that I've got my eye on but I want to hear people's experience with them before pulling the trigger. Any feedback this excellent community might have would be incredibly helpful.

    Thank you

Outstanding bit of kit, mine came with one of the audio ports plastic surround damaged, Dell knocked off another 10% for me so got it for £490, these things are for the price and heritage bloody good.

The i5 is the best bang for bucks, however the i3 model will holds it own, and obviously the i7 is the proper sharp end.

    Regards.

    For less than $1000

Edit: Just pulled the trigger. After tax and overnight shipping, it cost me $1025.

    Well, this sucks.

They called me shortly after I placed this order. I was not at my desk.

I checked my voicemail and they left a message saying that my order was received and everything was good to go and to call them if I wanted to purchase any accessories.

For some reason, I got worried. So I called them back as I left the office. My order has been cancelled due to not being able to verify my information.

    ?

This wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't for the fact that this is an outlet purchase. There's no guarantee that the item I wanted will even be in stock tomorrow when I wake up and try to re-place the order.

    *rage*

Wow really, they cancelled an order because you missed 1 phone call! You did give them your details when you placed the order right? What do they mean that they were unable to verify your details? I would call Dell and do some real complaining.

I called them and since it's an outlet order, there was all of ZERO people available who could assist me. All they could do was verify that my order was canceled (it was 6pm PDT)

The original order was placed online. All of my information was entered correctly. I have an email that says ACKNOWLEDGED and another that says CONFIRMED.

I still don't have an email informing me of a cancellation.
The last person I spoke with on chat presented themselves as a supervisor and was unable to assist me other than apologizing.

I'm not going to be happy at all if the item I wanted to purchase has been sold to someone else.

Wow, that sucks dude, hope you can get it sorted out asap. I know the feeling of having something nice promised to you snatched away right before your eyes.

Anyway, my brother just purchased a refurb m11x r3 same specs as yours for < $1000, not much complain except there's minor problems here there such as slight light leakage from the lcd, misaligned hinge and yeah the metal plate is engraved with someone else name :D but then again doesn't really affect much the laptop except if you have serious OCD disorder and want a perfect everything laptop ;)

No "sorting it out" could be done.

They couldn't get me on the phone (after trying ONCE) and then canceled my order. Now the item's not showing in inventory (it's in some sort of purgatory) so the order can't be placed again.

I should have expected this somehow from Dell.

So, my order was released a bit ago, meaning the M11x that I wanted to purchase found itself back on the outlet store. I just happened to hit refresh when this happened so I started the process over.

Placed the order over the phone, told them about the issues I was having and they agreed to toss in overnight shipping.

    I should have it Friday.

I said this earlier today to a friend - the thing that huge call centers and phone trees has robbed us of as consumers isn't just the personal touch of customer service, but accountability. Someone messed up here and they walk away unscathed (as far as i know) and I had to do the legwork to get what I wanted.

On the bright side you got free overnight.

    I bought a refurb R1 and R3. I love them both.

I bought a refurb R3 a few months ago, only one minor ding on the front corner. I paid $891.41 shipped. It's the rig in my sig, except it came with a 1tb HDD and the Intel 6250 wifi card.
