So recently, my ethernet decided to stop working. The cable works. So I decided to check the drivers. The Atheros ethernet driver for some reason was not enabled. I hit enable and it still wasn't working. I restarted my computer and it still wasn't working. So I decided I was going to redownload the drivers. I downloaded the new one's from Dell's website, and I deleted the old drivers. I went to install the new drivers and it says that there isn't an Atheros AR81 Family ethernet controlled on my system and it aborts the install. I completely forgot to set up a system-restore point and now I'm stuck without ethernet drivers. HELP ME

    EDIT

I got a pop-up saying it was downloaded again, not sure how but it shows up in the Device Manager again YAY. But, my ethernet is still not working. Device Manager says it is, but the yellow and green lights on the port are not on.

Have you enabled it with the FN F3 keys. FN wireless key.

You can always roll back to factory settings, that way all your default drivers will be loaded and the Atheros driver should be back on track.

Maybe try reflashing your BIOS. I had a similar problem with my R1. The SD card reader wasn't working, and the driver installer didn't want to run as it could not detect the hardware. Checked device manager and even the Firewire port wasn't there. A BIOS reflash solved all the problems.
