Overclocked and with Turbo Boost*, can the i7 M11x R2 handle Soul Calibur 3 on PCSX2? Or SC 2 at least, including on other emulators?

*2.8 GHz on a single core, from what I've heard.

DCemu is the way forward here. You will only get to play the original soul caliber though. But you'll have Hi-rez @ 60fps and I always rated the original over all the sequels - although 2 came close

I've heard there was a good Gamecube/Wii emulator called Dolphin or something like that. It might work for SC2. Don't ask me how it runs though; I'm ignorant to the subject.

Not sure this is the best place to be asking this though...

I tested dolphin extensively a couple of weeks ago on my R2. FPS just no playable on 3 different games that I tried. CPU just needs a hell of a lot more grunt. DC emu is the best your gonna get on this baby, although you could try PS2 emu I got Shadow of the Collossus running at about 70% speed (35-45fps) on PCSX but it was still pretty unplayable. SC2 might be run better as it won't be as taxing as SOC, but the GC version was far superior imo.

Wow, really? I thought dolphin wasn't that CPU heavy....

Are you overclocking your i7, and/or do you have turbo boost on? Your post is really interesting to me cause this is EXACTLY what I wanted to run (SOC, PCSX2, Dolphin) on an m11x...It disappoints me actually.......

Edit: also, what was the actual FPS, if you remember.

Yeah I've just tried Skies of Arcadia again on dolphin. With the new intel HD drivers, the nvidia 257.68 drivers and the updated physx drivers. I've managed a stable OC of 166 and TurboBoost with no BSOD :-D

I've also disabled Intel Sidestep and OC the GPU to 600/1480/825 but I'm still only getting unplayable FPS during the first 5mins or so of the game. Even the title screen lags and thats @ native Gamecube rez with no AA :-(
Null DC run perfect though even just on intergrated graphics - full 60fps @ native DC rez on Skies off Arcadia
