Simply put, I am debating on whether to discard the intel graphics all together by downloading Nvidia's newest driver and calling it a day.

My question, Should I expect to see a real difference in fps by doing this?

Seeing as I am receiving zero responses, I'll try and elaborate.

Are driver updates as significant as people state when playing games? I was always under the impression that these updates "fixed" issues with games played and focused on "minor" performance increases. Yet I hear claims of "New driver updates increased my frames by 10 on ""x"" game."

Any truth to this or is there minimal difference?

One assumes you're talking about an M11xR1 without further information.

Unless your games are impacted by the current hybrid switchable driver set and there are 'fixes' in a later Nvidia driver set for a given game, you're probably not going to gain much.

Maybe bide your time and see what the NBR forum members come up with in the next month or so.

When Christmas and new year (Sorry Aisa, we're boring you) are over and the NBR forum boys(girls welcome) have shooed the sheep out of the living room..(oh, maybe just a NZ thing) and not so wobbly on their feet, there may be a bright shiny new M11xR1 GPU switchable driver set available.

One never knows, Dell may even upgrade the M11xR1 GPU driver set.

"Wake up Mr Dell!!! Wake up Mr Dell!!!! Mummy, why is Mr Dell not moving???"
"Come away son and stop hitting Mr Dell with that stick. Mr Dell is asleep now and gone to heaven. What say, I buy you an ice-cream."
    "Wooo, an ice-cream... yes please..."

BUT either way, one can always enable GPU switching in the BIOS again and install a later GPU switchable driver set anyway.

    Your choice really.

Update - Nvidia driver updates can improve GPU over-clocking and stability and thus improve FPS, however driver upgrades improving general gaming above the odd FPS would be rare. You're limited by the hardware at the end of the day.
