hey all - i posted a couple weeks go on the demo, but now that the full version is out, i want to re open .

i can only select Dx 9 and Dx11 (DX 11 mode crashes on start up, i am not sure our cards support it), but the dx 9 only goes to Medium settings.

i dont get a dx10, and dont get an option to go higher than medium on dx9.

i am using 260.99 drivers, but i noticed Nvida came out with 266.58

can anyone confirm they are running 266.58 (on m11x r2) and are getting the dx10 option??

furthermore, is anyone else on 260.99 and having the same problem as me?

    Thanks

I only have those two options and im playing on my aurora. Dx9/medium looks pretty good though not a huge loss in quality.

Hows the performance on your m11x by the way? Are you running r1 or r2?

You can use ultra textures in dx9 mode. M11x doesnt support dx11.

game runs super smooth on my r2 at medium, thats why i wanna get it gassed to Very high then tweak.

but its fun, im a big fan of bioware games, and the fighting of this game is vastly improved.

i play at 1920x1080 and its smooth as heck.

If you choose DirectX11 mode on non-DX11 hardware, the game will drop down into DX10 mode. DX11 game engines are backwards-compatible with DX10 hardware.

There are several posts about this very topic in the Dragon Age 2 forums.

Its possible to upscale to 1920x1080 on the m11x? What kind of tweaking did you have to do?

This little laptop keeps amazing me. On medium 'dx11' (really dx10) it looks and plays great.

Have to share my save between the Desktop and the M11x. Gonna play this during lunch a lot.....

260.99 1280x720, AA off, filtering at 16X, medium, DX11. And I whitelisted the launcher and the DragonAge2.exe.

Oh and I bought the game from Amazon. The digital download was $47.99. Just a heads up to the bargain hunters. :)

    hmmm...

if i set to dx11, and restart game (so that the renderer works), i cant even start the game.

    im on 260.99 too.....

my understanding was our 335m doesnt support Dx11, can someone confirm this?

nVidia 335M GPU does not support DX11.

If you try to run a game in DX11 mode on hardware that is only capable of handling DX10, then the game will drop down to DX10 mode, including Dragon Age 2.

Just yesterday I installed the current beta drivers, 267.24 I believe and it's the same for me. Turn on DX11, no dice, just closes out when I press play. But I did a side by side comparison of my M11xR2 (core i5, 8gb RAM) with DX9, medium settings, with the High Res Textures installed and my Desktop at home running DX11, Very High settings, with High Res Textures and the difference is surprisingly small. They both run at over 40 FPS constant and I dunno if it's just the smaller screen on the laptop or what but they look almost identical in some places. Spell effects are a little flashier but not a whole lot but character and world textures are very close to the same. All in all I'm extremely happy with the performance of my laptop and Dragon Age 2. Even put it up on the 47" TV at 1900X1050 or whatever it is and it looked great and played smooth as butter.

Posts in this topic have so far been conflicting and very confusing.

Some people are saying game drops to dx10 when you set the option to dx11, others are saying game crashes or won't start on dx11 option.

I heard this was an issue with the demo but the crashes have been fixed for the release. So which is it because my M11XR1 is crashing like a mofo on DA2 set to dx11, fine on dx9.

Anyone get the full game to run on dx11(dx10) on R1?

Well, I installed the game and started the game in DX11. Since the game didn't crash I'm assuming it's dropped down to DX10. I also am running this at native resolution on High details and no AA. The game seems to fluctuate between 20-40fps during gameplay. I have an R2 i7|8GB|80GB Intel SSD and I have the 266.35 beta drivers installed. It runs well enough for me.

When I first launched the game it opened in DX11 and it ran at sub 20 FPS, in DX9 and DX11. Didn't take me long to realize I hadn't Whitelisted it. After whitelisting it, it would no longer open in DX11 but performed exceptionally well in DX9. This is one the latest nvidia 267.24 beta drivers.

    interesting.

to those who run this in dx 11, are u 100% sure you are whitelisted?

im wondering if u can do it in dx11 if its on the integrated? or at least 'choose' the option

im running the game in dx11 mode on medium getting very nice fps. I have my m11x set to only use the nvidia card...no whitelisting, no problems and a nice overclock

I'm using 260.99 on the R2. DX10 *is not* an option. But selecting DX11 allows me to play in DX10 mode. The DX11 features are not selectable is all. I'll post a pic...

Yes in game (see pic above). You can also try to set it in the launcher. It's the exe that bring up a menu. It als has a config screen.

Just a question are you OCing your GPU, I can't get it to run smoothly using DX11 on medium so I'm wondering what your doing differently.
