I have been searching for a tread about DA2, but I have not found anything. Can anyone say how well it runs on m11xr2? on any settings low, med, or high as long as its playable.

(Sorry if there is a thread already out there, couldn't find it. Spend half an hour looking)

There is one around page 3 or somewhere around there. I've got it running smooth using DX9 on medium settings. Some have said that you can get it running with the DX11 option (it technically runs on DX10 but you just hit 11) on medium but I haven't managed to get it running smoothly at that.

m11x runs extremely smooth 30-50fps+ on medium settings. unfortunately high can only be run on dx11 and the m11x doesn't support that. looks great though. you wont have a problem running it

i dont have the full version yet, but i did try the demo of it from steam, it runs pretty smooth 30-60fps on the dx9 medium, i tried it on dx11 medium and it ran okay 20-30fps, im using driver 260.89 oc cpu 1.60, but this was just the demo from steam and not the actual real game so not sure if they changed specs or not, stil debating to buy DA2 or crysis2 or portal2,

    decisions desicions

This isn't correct, if you run it using DX11 the game recognizes that your card doesn't support it and bumps it down to DX10. I couldn't get it to run to the acceptable level of smoothness that I wanted though so I stuck with keeping it at DX9.

I was thinking about picking this up, but I never played the 1st one....Do you guys recommend buying and playing through DA1 first?

Technically there is little real info you get from the first that you need in the second. There are casual mentions here and there but you can easily get in and enjoy the game without having played the original. Though I would recommend reading some of the codex entries in game if you just get 2. So that you will know some of the more esoteric backstory.

I'm not sure how this is even possible but mine runs smoother with aa at 8x than it does with aa
off (Dx 9 Med hi Res textures) fraps confirmed aa 8x 30-36 fps aa off 25-30 fps very strange...

I don't have fraps, but I have been running it on DX11 (so its bumped down to DX10) on high, high res textures, aa off. Its completely playable but not super smooth, so its probably down around 15-20 fps (based on how it compares to games I have measured framerates with). If you want it smooth (smooth enough to put on a larger external monitor) the other thread was saying going with dx9 medium.

*edit* I should mention that my cpu sucks, and I can only overclock to 146 mhz

DA2 If I am correct was made by the same people that made ME2 and I never played ME1 but I found it pretty easy to keep up since there so many dialogues to choose from

There are some side quests that you get from decisions made in DA:O. According to the guide book some of them don't appear to be available without a DA:O save game, the rest will be available depending on the choice you make at the start of the game.

They give you four pre-selected histories to choose from, that I'm pretty sure covers every option that could happen during Origins.
