    Does the M11x-R1 scratch easily?

I just want to settle my phobia. I purchased a "Certified Refurb," and there are a good amount of scratches on the left I/O panel (HDMI, USB, et cetera). The plastic grill has a lot of hair line scratches, and the original lid had some scratches (this was replaced as it was faulty).

I'm honestly pretty angry that dell sent me such a scratched up laptop. I love the M11x, but I hate Dell.

Did I get jipped? Or, does this beast really scratch this easily?

The only part where I have scratches it the bottom and the very corners of the screen where the gray color is peeling off (it's whitey beneath). I know... it was bound to happen at some point... just didn't think "some point" was 4-5 months.

And I consider myself pretty careful about handling it.

Call Dell and complain. There is no reason for you to have such a cosmetically damaged laptop, especially if the original laptop that you had sent in did not have this damage.

If you pester them enough, they will probably send you another refurb, hopefully one without cosmetic damage.

Ahhh, I didn't see that he *PURCHASED* the laptop as a certified refurb. Where did you buy it from?

If you bought it from Dell Outlet, then I don't think you have any recourse. Typically, they list the condition of the laptop, including any cosmetic damage. If you bought the laptop knowing that there was cosmetic damage in the description, then there is nothing you can do except to try and return the laptop if you are within the return period.

None of the M11x units specifically state the amount of cosmetic damage they have. This was a "Certified Refurb," not one of the cheaper "Scratch & Dents".

you can't do anything about the wear and tear from outlet...NOW if you have some sort of issues with the system they are pretty good about swapping it out for another refurb with same or slightly better specs so that is your only way of getting it replaced. I had 3 replacements for my m15x and choose the best overall one with slightly upgraded specs and no dead pixels or anything and my original one was a certified refurb

Hmm, did your final M15x have any cosmetic damage? And, what was wrong with your M15x that warranted an exchange?

Refurbish units are usually products with a specific probably. After they fix that problem they replace the appearance parts which should make it look brand new.. Why doesnt alienware do this?

Alienware/Dell doesn't need to do it, as long as they explicitly state that there are scratches & cosmetic damage prior to you buying it.

It's just like buying a used car. They don't need to spend the money repairing the car, as long as the seller explicitly informs you of the condition of the car prior to you buying it.
