Ok everyone.. I need a bit of help. Can anyone who games run some tests or benchmarks today on FPS games like crysis and bfbc2 to see if average FPS is impacted by FOV? Meaning if a game, example BFBC2 has a standard FOV like 55, if you raise it to 75 does it impact FPS (frames per second)?

    thanks,

    StevenX

    Hey Stevenx,

Yes, increased FOV does lower FPS. I don't have any current benchmarks, but I've always noticed a huge difference having a lower FOV, even in games as old as UT2004. The same happens with UT3.

I suppose the significance of FOV on FPS can depend somewhat on how optimized the game engine is, which in the case of BC2 and Crysis, that's not very well.

    Hope that helps.
