    Okay,
So I have the NIVIDIA GeForce GT 540m and Intel HD Graphics 3000. I was curious and disabled the HD Graphics in device manager. And my screen went black. How do use the GeForce at least to play games? I apparently am not.

You don't need to worry about it. Optimus takes care of it all for you.

It seems to be working great for me. If you want to make certain it's working, you open NVidia Control Panel, then in the Manage 3D Settings page you select the NVidia card in the Global Settings tab.

The only problem i ever had was when I was playing on battery.

As I understand it, R2/R3 systems use the intel to handle the actual visual output after its been rendered. This might not be fully accurate but the point is you need both.

For those odd exceptions you may need to tweak settings. I think most or all scenarios have been covered in forums if you have such an issue.l
