So I done my fair share of searching the forums and can't find much on this, probably because the R1 is a little dated.

I was wondering what side effects I might experience (other than loss of battery life) if I switch off the Intel GPU in my BIOS, and only run my GT335. I mostly just want to upgrade my drivers and don't want to bother with it trying to disable my GT 335. I updated from Nvidia for the BF3 drivers and then my Nvidia card disappeared. I did drivers sweeper and reinstalled the Dell drivers with no problem. My FN+F6 features works perfectly now...

Just wondering if I really need to have the switchable feature on if I never use it. My laptop is really only used for gaming, therefore is always plugged in when in use...

Ok cool. Sounds good to me, I will try it tonight hopefully.

The real thing that bugs me is when I boot City of Heroes, my game of choice...on the title screen in bright red letters it says "Your video card drivers are out of date, update them etc... " Really annoying. Not a big deal really because I can play the game fine... I am just very OCD about things like that.

Just to confirm, the process would just be this:

    1) Turn on computer, go to BIOS
    2) Turn the Intel card off
    3) Save and exit
    4) Download nvidia drivers
    5) Update using clean install
    6) Reboot

I im using descrete mode 24/7 never have used the intel card once, and it still gets good batterylife around 4 hours give or take.

I dont have any issues doing this other than having to turn off sleep mode when closing the lid. because it just gives you a black screen and you have to reset it if it does that. so the only side effect is that, just disable sleep mode when you close the lid and you are set.
