    I ordered this one:

    Newegg.com - ASUS VH222H-P Black 21.5" 5ms HDMI Widescreen Full HD 1080P LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ASCR 20000 :1 Built in Speakers

Has HDMI port, except got it from Amazon for $149.99 with free shipping (have Prime). It should arrive today. Granted I'm using it primarily for my 17" Sager laptop, but that's going in for the Intel recall repair, and will be using it with my M11x.

edit: just noticed that Dell is an IPS panel! wow! Great price. Too bad it doesn't come with HDMI. Although I might change my order though and I can live with DVI + audio cable just to get the IPS.

You'll be fine. DisplayPort on a M11x works great. Also the U2211 has a 3.5mm audio output and the DP can pass audio.
    I have 2 x U2410.
Plus an IPS monitor is a big step from TN.

I don't think this 22" comes with 3.5mm audio out. At least I didn't see it in the specs or on the images. I'm still impressed though, a 22" 1080p IPS panel for $180!

You're right, as soon as I saw the optional sound bar, I just thought 3.5mm audio as with the U2410. The 3.5mm on the U2410 is a bit like secret squirrel, but for the U2410 it is listed in the reference doco.

The U2211 doesn't have any such 3.5mm audio listed in the Dell reference doco. :(
Still not the end of the world, just need to plug in audio when you 'dock' your M11x or use the built in M11x speakers.

    Dell U2211H Documentation

Oh, and the U2211 does max. at 1920x1080 resolution or Full-HD.

I've got so used of connecting my M11x up to DisplayPort/HDMI(Freeview TV) and using the 3.5mm audio out, that any 'next' monitor would have to have audio out (Digital would be better).
    U2410 has 1xVGA, 2xDVI, 1xDisplayPort, 1xHDMI, 1xComposite, 1xComponent, 1x3.5mm audio out, plus the USB and card reader ports.
    Max. screen resolution is 1920x1200

    Dell U2410F Documentation

The U2410 and U2711 have also come down in price... a lot so if one has the money, then it may be a 'better' option. Just check the screen for pink/green tinting problems as the quality of the U2410 wasn't brilliant.

You know what, I didn't even notice that was on Dell Canada.

Thats an excellent price for that monitor. This is also a good option
    Newegg.com - ASUS ML239H Black 23" 5ms IPS Panel Full HD HDMI LED BackLight LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 ASCR 50,000,000:1 (3,000:1)
And the samsung 2333t can be found for around 150 bucks. Its the one I bought after looking at ips and c-pva panels. The response rate does generate a small amount of ghosting but the color contrast is superior to any e-ips or similar screen at this budget, it really is incredible. Consider those factors to make your decision.

Dell is about to release the U2212HM, U2312HM and U2412HM, so this may be the best time to pick up a competitive priced U2211H as they run the stock out.

I see in NZ the U2711 is priced at the original price of the U2410 and the U2410 is being reduced in price.

The new Dell monitors will be e-IPS based, W-LED backlit and 16:9.

The H in the naming construct indicates 16:9 and the M indicates e-IPS panels.

In a graphics and design environment I'm not a fan of 16:9 and would prefer 16:10 or 5:4, but thats the way it's going cause the masses are not graphic designers. :(

Adobe graphics packages on my M11x with U2410 monitor(s) work quite well together.

Well, I just bought an Asus 21.5" monitor for $149 - $10 MIR and I love it so far, except it has one dead pixel dangit. I ordered from Amazon so they pretty much have a no questions asked return policy so I may just return it for another one.

    Thanks everyone for responding!

    I ended up buying...

a laptop bag! I couldn't afford both a laptop bag and a monitor right now, so I thought I'd pick up the less expensive bag, and go with a monitor (hopefully with a soundbar!) later down the road.

Dell usually has these 10/12 days of deals at least once a quarter and has some sort of UltraSharp on sale. If games run on 23/24" without problems, maybe I'd be more inclined to get that. I noticed that I get quite a bit of chop when connecting my computer to my 40" TV.

    Anyways, thanks again!
