Just got off the phone with support (800-ALIENWARE) and ordered a free custom nameplate. Just posting it up, because some have reported successfully ordering them, others have been denied, and I've read a lot of speculation that wasn't accurate (someone said that the replacement plate was $100) on this forum.

Just putting it out there if anyone bought a refurb, or one from Microsoft, like me, or even folks who decided they wanted a custom plate after all.

Like my original M11x, had this one labeled with my first name and cell phone number is (XXX) XXX-XXXX format. Lotta good that one did, but it can't hurt.

Yeah - I figured some folks might decide as well to take advantage of it if - they're free, and didn't even charge me shipping.

FYI - The representative I spoke with indicated you've got 23 characters to work with.

So it's only free for those that bought refurb? I could use a new nameplate lol.

    No.
I bought mine new from Microsoft when they were running their "call in and mention you saw this banner on the website for 35% off" special.

I told the rep that it had the standard default 'M11x' plate and that if possible I'd like to order the custom plate. I also told him I was willing to pay for it + shipping.

Also, FYI, the part number is: 9705J

I got mine at Best Buy (largely because I was leaving the US two days later and didn't want to have to wait, and because BT isn't a big deal to me). We'll see if I'm able to swing one :-D

Ah. Yeah, I don't care about BT either. Neither this one, nor my previous are Bluetooth equipped.
