It had very poor FPS on my desktop. I think it is not optimized very well and uses lots of point light sources, water, and shadows. Try to OC your CPU and use ThrottleStop to try to squeeze more FPS from your R2

THANK YOU. The Throttlestop made a HUGE difference. But there is still a little bit of mouse input lag. But it's doable. What could happen to my laptop if i use throttle stop to much?.. D:

Disable physx (change from enabled or gpu to disabled or cpu).
It's one of those rare games that utilize physx.

    Thanks,

    StevenX

Kevorkian - turn it off in nvidia first. Then make sure its set to NONE in game.
So both is the correct answer.

    Good luck, StevenX

    The game is horribly optimized.

    On my 5870 I get 20-30 FPS.

No, ThrottleStop will not harm anything. It will make your CPU run a little warmer when under load (tops out around 70-75C). The CPU is designed for over 100C, so do not worry about damage from that. It will also use your battery up a little faster, so only use it on AC power.

    Cheers,
    Stain

Ugh this game is hard core! My PC at the time struggled with physx turned on E8400 @ 3.8ghz and a GTX260.

I'd imagine if you turned physx off and dropped the settings it would still struggle, its a very unoptimised game.

I'd reinstall the video drivers or physx drivers first

Just download the latest version of physx software from nvidia website. Make sure it is set to CPU or DISABLED in nvidia control panel. Make sure it's not enabled in game. My wife is able to run the game fine on her R1. Thanks, StevenX

Cryostasis ran pretty decently on my desktop. (GTX295 w/ a 9800GT dedicated to PHYSX) IIRC it was around 45 FPS w/ max settings @ 1680x1050.

I had a similar problem. I figured I'd install it on my family's desktop. It's a little older, but rates slightly above the m11x R1 I own. Here are the specs:

AMD 5200+ AM2 Black edition CPU
2x NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512, running in SLI
    4GB Ram
    Windows 7, 64 bit

I installed the older version of the physx files (the ones for the original Ageia card I have sitting somewhere on my shelf) then upgraded them to the current ones through NVidia's site. Game runs at a decent 30fps for me, even with Physx on. I think it had something to do with the old physx drivers being installed with the new ones on top.

It will do! You have a dedicated physx card, makes all the difference on that game.

Yeah, I was getting 20-25 fps with just my GTX295.

I tried disabling Sli, and dedicating half the card to PHYSX, but it didn't help much.

So, I just shoved my spare 9800GT in there & dedicated it to PHYSX, and BAM, smooth gameplay.

As for the M11X, I'd think you would probably have to disable PHYSX & maybe turn the settings down to mid-high.
