I am having trouble finding a clear answer. I have replaced my HD with a Intel x25-M 120GB SSD.
I want to be sure I am using the correct driver to ensure that TRIM is working.
Can someone offer a clarification on this for me?
I have an R1 m11x

Well Trim isnt handled by a Driver rather than the Firmware on the SSD itself. The 120GB Intel SSDs ship with the most recent firmware that has Trim support.

Windows 7 (any version) will automatically detect that you have an SSD and not an HDD and will install the appropriate drivers (ie TRIM, and disable defrag). ONLY WINDOWS 7 supports SSDs! If you use any other Windows you will have to manually adjust settings.
But if you do have Windows 7 you just need to sit back and relax, microsoft will do everything for you! -
If you really want them, the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers will do. This is the newest name for the Intel drivers. But they aren't "neccesary" drivers.

Defrag was not disabled and I had to remove the defrag schedule. I definately have an intel driver on the computer, I just cannot tell if its the right/appropriate driver. I believe I pulled it from the dell site.
I am looking for a reference to the most appropriate driver to use to ensure that the SSD will be utilized appropriately. -
The Intel SSD Toolbox is what you're looking for http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18455 and it has the option to schedule the TRIM command. It also has diagnostic and SMART reporting which is nice when troubleshooting.
Also, Windows 7 should recognize SSDs and disable certain services, but like others, I've found it can be unreliable. Its best to double check. -
Regarding defrag, the service may be started, but if you go to open disk defragmenter and check the drives it'll defrag, under "configure schedule" and "select disks" your C: drive will not show up. I don't believe defrag service is disabled by default, it's just turned off for your SSD.
TRIM commands are sent by the OS, but handled by the SSD firmware. To ensure Windows has them enabled, open an elevated command prompt (type "cmd" in the start menu run, right click cmd.exe that pops up and run as administrator) and type the following:
fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify
DisableDeleteNotify = 1 (Windows TRIM commands are disabled)
DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Windows TRIM commands are enabled) -
Yea I installed an x25 160gb intel sad on my wifes r1 m11x. No need for any drivers all works great.
