Having trouble starting Civ V using Direct X 11 starts and runs just fine on Direct X 9. I am using the recommended nvidea drivers on the dell support website 257.30 any suggestions most appreciated.

The 335m is not a DX11 capable GPU hence why the DX11 code path won't work.

im having no problems using 260.99.

i used to use 257.30 and it wouldnt work, (Crash on startup), but after switching to NVIDIA 260.99 drivers dx11 works just fine.

    It's actually either DX9 or DX10/11. As stated previously the 335 doesn't support DX11 so you're running DX10.

    265.90 works as well.

EDIT: I take that back. DX10/11 does not work with 265.90 - it's been a while since I've fired it up on my R2. I did just confirm that it works with 260.99 though.

Just downloaded the 260.99 drivers off the nvidea website and now runs like a dream thanks for the help. Why does the dell support website list the 257.30 as the recommended driver as ive tried Medal of Honor and noticed a big improvement in performance once again thankyou very much for the help.

Because Dell cares about stability. A stable driver saves them money.

Releasing and certifying new drivers costs Dell money. It costs them money to certify the drivers, and it costs them money to support the new drivers. And they have no incentive to certify new drivers. They get no revenue from updating drivers, only the potential to lose money through the time they need to spend to certify & support.

It is never in Dell's best interest to give you the fastest, newest drivers. That only loses money for them, which is why they don't do it.
