    Hi folks,

I've looked around and can't seem to find anyone with my exact problem. I have an M11x R2 I got in September with a 500GB hard drive in it. I created my AlienRespawn recovery DVDs and tucked them away in case I ever needed to restore. For Christmas, my brother got me a 128GB SSD. I replaced the 500GB drive with the 128GB SSD, hooked up my external DVD writer, and popped the recovery DVDs in.

When I get to the AlienRespawn menu after the recovery UI appears, no matter what options I choose, I receive an error stating that "Your hard drive is not supported for this process" and that I need to use a drive that's at least ~451GB in size. I thought you could recover on to a drive of any size? The recovery DVDs are all I have as far as system backups go.

Thanks for the help in advance!

First off you should just do a clean install on the SSD. But to answer your question, I believe that AlienRespawn does a bit to bit image of your drive where you would have to use a 500GB or greater drive to restore using AlienRespawn. If you are set on using an image file Acronis True Image Home 2011 is very good. They have a free trial that you can use to do the backup and restore with.

    Good Luck
